You can bring every Jira project along to Notulous yourself, in a few minutes per project. You need to be an admin in Notulous.

1. Export the issues from Jira

In Jira, open Filters, search the issues of the project (or of several projects), and choose Export › Export CSV (all fields). A large project can be exported in parts: each part is imported on its own.

2. Import the file

In Notulous, go to Projects, choose Import from › Jira and upload the CSV file. Then:

  • Pick the project: a new one, or one that exists. The project's code is the start of every issue number.
  • Map the people: each person in Jira to someone in your workspace, or to nobody.
  • Map the statuses: each Jira status to one of your statuses, like To do, In progress, Review or Done.

What comes along

  • Issue numbers stay the same: CORE-123 becomes NOT-123 in a project with the code NOT. Numbers in old emails, commits and documents still lead to the right issue.
  • The title, description, type, priority, status and assignee of every issue.
  • Comments and logged work, as comments and time entries on the issue.
  • Links between issues, like blocks, is blocked by, duplicates and relates to.
  • Jira's sub-tasks stay issues of their own, with their own comments and time.

Importing again

You can import a newer export into the same project later. Issues imported before are updated (title, description, status, assignee) and new ones are added. Comments and time aren't added twice.

Asana and Trello

Projects from Asana and boards from Trello are imported the same way, from their JSON export. Asana's subtasks and Trello's checklists become the issue's subtasks.

Rather not do it yourself? Founding workspaces get the import done for them.
