Many studios run their work in Jira and their hours in Harvest. It works, but it's two subscriptions, two places to look, and a gap in the middle: the hours in Harvest don't know which issue they were for, and the issues in Jira don't know what they cost.
Notulous puts both in one workspace. You plan the work as issues on a board, start the timer on the issue you're working on, and the report and the invoice export come from the same hours.
What it replaces
- From Jira: projects, issues with subtasks, boards with swimlanes and filters, one board across projects, releases, and links between issues. Branches, commits and pull requests from GitHub or Bitbucket show on the issue they name.
- From Harvest: a timer on every issue, a weekly timesheet, time reports per project, person, client or day, hourly rates per project and per role, project budgets in hours, and an export of the billable hours with the rate and the amount per line.
- And from Confluence: notes and documents per project, next to the work.
What it costs for 15 people
- Jira Standard and Harvest Teams: about €226 a month, plus Harvest's usage fees.
- Notulous Team: €105 a month.
- Notulous Studio: €195 a month.
Team (€7 per person a month) has the issues, boards and time tracking. Studio (€13 per person) adds clients, rates, time reports, the invoice export and budgets. Neither ever costs more than €249 or €449 a month, however many people you add, and clients follow their projects for free.
Moving over
Export your issues from Jira as a CSV file (Filters › Export › CSV, all fields) and import it on the Projects page. Your issues keep their Jira numbers: CORE-123 becomes NOT-123 if you call the project NOT, so the numbers in old emails, commits and documents still point to the right issue. Comments, logged work and links between issues come along. Importing again later updates what you imported before, without doubling it.
Harvest has no import into Notulous: start tracking time in Notulous from a new month, and keep Harvest's reports for the months before.
Is it for you?
Notulous is made for studios and agencies of 5 to 50 people who bill their time. If you run a large software organisation with complex Jira workflows and custom fields, Jira does more than Notulous. If you mostly send invoices from your time tracker, note that Notulous exports the billable hours for your invoicing or accounting software; it doesn't send the invoices itself.
Start your free trial for 14 days, without a credit card, or ask for a founding workspace and we'll do the import for you.
